It is no coincidence that our beloved association was named a Guild and its soon-to-follow affiliate groups were named Chapters.   As the Founder, along with other generous volunteers with knowledge of by-laws, we began to create them for our association. In 1995, when our pursuit of 501c3 status was granted, our bylaws regarding this issue read as follows: “Section 4 Chapters 4.1 Names and Domain Local Chapters, State Organizations and Regional Organizations, termed chapters in these Bylaws, who wish to become members of the CGOA shall adopt a name including “Chapter of Crochet Guild of America” . CGOA shall assume no liability for its chapters. 4.3 Recognition Chapters shall adopt Bylaws consistent with these Bylaws and the purposes of which shall be substantially the same as those of the CGOA. Voting is now open for CGOA members to elect the 2018 Hall of Fame Inductee. Your Hall of Fame Committee has worked hard this year, doing research and picking 4 very exciting pioneers from the world of crochet to offer up for the members' final decision as to who we will induct. Induction will take place at the Chain Link Crochet Conference, this year it is in Portland Oregon July 26-29, 2018 . Last week as I walked into school to attend little Chloe's musical, Stone Soup , I was greeted by a staff person who ask if I was there to "yarnbomb." I guess my reputation has preceded me; and I'll take that! "No," I replied, "Not until next week." I am so pleased that I was invited back again this year to talk to the kids about yarn and yarnbombing; this is the week that they are learning all about the letter "Y!" When Chloe was in Junior Kindergarten 2 years ago, I was there; and this year Jack is in "J/K," as they call it, with the same wonderful teachers, Mrs. B and Mrs. S. Karen Ballard in World Wat II Knitting Hat Like her many and varied crafts skills and needlework-related interests, Karen has also earned enough college credits for the equivalent of a Bachelor's degree in computer science, with minors in management, mathematics, and sociology; and she is a generous and regular promoter of others’ art. A talented maker in her own right, Karen has many accomplishments to share about herself as well! I met Karen at A Chain Link Crochet Conference a few years ago, and it has been my pleasure to visit with her for this interview.

Crocheters across the nation have gotten creative in finding ways to celebrate their beloved craft during the month of March for National Crochet Month . Started originally as National Crochet Week by the Crochet Guild of America in 1997,  it has grown and grown and there is so much to celebrate that CGOA changed it to a monthlong event a few years later. Fibery people, CGOA members, and companies large and small are on the bandwagon now to draw attention to all we love about crochet! July 24, 2013 As I drove up to the Radisson in Manchester, NH and saw that it had been yarn-bombed ~ outside in the plaza in front plus the dog statues that greet us and the bench right bythe door ~ I said to myself, "Why didn't we think of this before??" Many many thanks to Jennifer Ryan for conceiving the idea and for organizing all the wonderful volunteers who contributed motifs and helped put them ALL OVER. It was sensational! Tree in Parkway Dog Statue at Entrance I bombed the same dog in 2010 with yarn from our goody bag by Lion Brand! My bombing of the dog back in 2010 was gone by morning. It goes to show that asking permission has some benefits, but does take some of the excitement out of yarn bombing!
