I'm so thrilled that my younger daughter, Bethany, came to visit on february 6! We had a great time and I loved showing her my favorite sights and restaurants around town.
She was hungry when she arrived, so our first stop was the Hotel & Restaurant Nueva Posada when we were entertained by a large parrrot near our outdoor dining and very outgoing little girl!
The Annual Chilli Cookout is a festive event which we attended on Friday. We enjoyed non-stop music, shopping for arts & crafts and a cold soda to quench our thirst from the hot sun before we moved on to a restaurant for lunch. There were plenty of gift for friends back home, and maybe something for ourselves too!

Close and convenient we enjoyed lunch at the outdoor patio at Prango. Beth had an exquisite fettuhini alfredo with crisp asparagus and I had a delicious mushroom soup. Disappointedly, there was n guacamole. Can you believe it?
I wanted Beth to meet Sheila, my long time friend who lives here permanently and for her to meet Beth, of course! Thanks, Sheila, for treating us to a great restaurant that is new to me.

The rooftop "Mirador" was a favorite spot of Beth's to pick up a tan! |

Sunday morning we started out heading to the plaza for a leisurely breakfast. Y'all know how I love Dia de Los Muertes...On the way I saw this on a garage door!
We were lucky to get to Ajijic Garden before the Sunday rush. By the time we left, there was a wait! Beth loved her chilaquiles and I had the worst waffle of my life! We wandered through the plaza where more arts & crafts were for sale.
After breakfast we strolled around the plaza which is always so busy on Sunday. Many folks from Guadalajara like to come to Ajijic for the weekends.

The boardwalk on Lake Chapala is a special place. I wanted Beth to experience it. Disappointing to we was that the restaurant on the end of the pier was closed. Alan and I used to love to go there for a cold beer and guacamole after walking around town, to cool off! Delicious!
On Monday, we had a mission to find a no-name bakery, hole-in-the-wall that I still remembered from 2012! We had scoped it out and found it closed on Sunday & Tuesday. the sign said the "sweet breads" were ready at 12:00. So, we were one the case and the first ones there! It is so rustic; and at the same time, so Mexican; the owner is just the nicest man. To enter off the street you have to walk down the alley, then through a very narrow passageway past hundreds of kilos of flour in sacks! Credit to Bethany Leigh for these great photos!

It's the strawberry and pineapple turnovers that got us here! |
Al the rolls we bought were still warm! The bolillos are perfection. I only buy one at a time because they have no preservatives and dry out in a day, but until then, the best!

Sweet baker man with his fresh & yeasty bolillo breads. He was happy to have us take his picture and showed us photos of his grandson! Tonight I wanted to have Beth enjoy an excellent restaurant her and one of our favorites, Ajijic Tango. It has an argentine flair and the chimichurri can't be beat! We both had great chicken dishes and left there stuffed! I guess we were so busy eating, we didn't think to take pictures of the f!ood
Tuesday came all too fast, but fortunately Beth's flight out of Guadalajara was not overly early. She fit in some more time in the sun on the roof and some shots of our front door.
