Winter was a time of relaxation for me; and I got to enjoy my favorite therapeutic activity: crochet. I walked on the beach, then crocheted; I took a nap, then crocheted; I walked to dinner, then crocheted; I swam in the pool then crocheted. Needless to say, my winter lifestyle allowed me to get a lot of crocheted projects started and/or finished.
Pondering all I've done since January 2018, got me to thinking about WIPS (Works in Progress). Crocheters, in general, seem to fall into several categories:
1) Those who start and finish projects, one at a time
2) Those who start several projects in a short period of time, but finish them all
3) Those who love to start projects, but don't love to finish them Whether their procrastination is due to a glitch in the pattern they are following; a misunderstanding of the directions; or just plain lack of interest, their many half-finished projects get balled up and thrown into a bag. Eventually, they wind up in the black hold of Yarndom!
You can see the nine projects I have completed since January on my Ravelry page. You will see 2 WIPs there, as well.
I am happy to report that the fingerless gloves have been conquered and I should finish seaming them this week! The free form scarf is coming along nicely and it was commissioned by a very patient friend last December (2017) and I am about to begin the challenge of connecting all the scrumbles.
You can make your own judgement about what category I fall into. I see myself as ALWAYS having to have a project going; and more often than not, I have 4 or 5 in the works.
I must have one in the car for those times I find myself waiting in line or in a doctor's office. A no-brainer project is handy for when I'm crocheting in a chatty group. My daily-dose-of-crochet project is usually one I'm very excited about making. It's my treat to work on it in the evening with some entertaining television or during a quiet afternoon on the porch.
I am on top of my two WIPs and determined to see them to the finish line soon. But wait, there is a nagging little voice in my head telling me to check my to-do list or my Ravelry library for a pattern I saw months ago and haven't stopped thinking of since. The urge to start something new is strong; and it's a small project.
What category do you fit into? I'd love to hear from you and hear about your MO. Please comment here and keep on stitching!
