It's been a happy and busy Christmas Season, and I have many reasons to be thankful. Most of which are the fantastic gifts I have received from my wonderful fiber friends, all heavily leaning to the side of my passion for crochet!
Is this because my gifters know me so well; or am I such a narrow-minded hobbyist, that crochet-related gifts are the best bet for my gifters? Some might question as to how I could be so thrilled with those treasures I received. Do I really "need" another crochet hook, thread cutter or pin cushion, let alone more balls of yarn? The answer is "no," but it has never been about "need" for us dedicated crocheters.
Am I a bit obsessed about collecting or just passionate in all aspects of my craft? Crochet is much more than just the collecting of materials or the daily looping of the yarn. It soothes me, it is my therapy. It can also frustrate me when I can't get my fingers to work fast enough to meet a deadline; or infuriates me when the pattern I am following makes no sense, due to no fault of my own!
What would I do while crocheting in church when an urgent need to cut a thread presents itself? Now, I don't have to scavenge through my bag for scissors in fear that I will bring attention to myself. All I need do it reach in my pocket for my keychain and voila; my new and third cutter is quite handy for a quick fix.
What would I do without my handy dandy 4-in-1 hook tool from Boye when arriving at my crochet meet-up having lost my hook for that project I must finish today? Its bulky handle is not ideal, but it certainly is a must have in the purse when having a certain size hook at the ready is critical.
Not having our hands busy when a crochet opportunity is before us, is grounds for a loopy meltdown! And what about those numerous yarn bins with unendiung shades of colors separated neatly for when we need just the right tone to mix with another color? No ball-o-yarn gift is ever rejected; just tucked away for a rainy day!
How could I keep track of what chapter I am reading as I crochet, without this gorgeous bookmark? It makes me smile as I think of the bullion expert who made it for me!
Since 1995, my brand has been "crochetqueen" or "crochetkween." How exciting, that today when crochet is at an all-time high in popularity, manufacturers are catering to my theme!
Crochet is a steady activity for me and it is also "steadying." It has gotten me through many a crisis or just times of stress. It has also allowed me to meet and make many friends over the years and I so appreciate our bond and camaraderie over crochet. Thank you to those who know me and chose to gift me things they knew I would like!
I'd love to hear from you and hear about the fibery gifts you received this season!

I must admit, I bought this wooden hook from a local art gallery for myself! |
