This new book published by Martingale has not only projects for children but also for adults. Crocheters everywhere will enjoy making these interesting vehicles as gifts. Eight projects complete with moving parts are featured including a police car, taxi, ambulance, convertible care, dump truck, VW Beetle, bus, and firetruck.

School Bus

Cathy offers clever ideas such as filling the dump truck with snacks or candy as a fancy way to present a gift to anyone! These instructions can also be used to create “plushies,” with no moving wheels, to decorate a lucky kid’s bedroom or for naptime cuddling!

Police Car

Geared toward crocheters with intermediate skill levels, readily accessible materials such as plastic canvas, dowels, straws, hot glue gun and a saw to cut the dowels are required. We are not usually expected to use such multi-media materials, but it should not be a deterrant to tackling one of these projects.

Ambulance

Some patience and attention to detail in order to make and assemble all the parts is a good place to start! Each vehicle measures approximately 13 x 17 inches, so they can be worked up quickly. Traditional crochet basics is included in the book along with tips for crocheting with plastic canvas.

I am constantly “thinking crochet.” I want to bring awareness about crochet to everyone in the world. They don’t necessarily need to achieve the level of passion that I have for the craft, but my dream is that our society in general would come to recognize crochet as a valuable art and craft.
