Sometimes we get a little restless and complain about the business end of the local guild meetings. However, if it weren't for the National Guild: CGOA, the meetings, the organizing and the volunteers there wouldn't be a chapter AND I wouldn't have met Boston Bobble and Beady Buddy!
Today we had a social outing and a mission to explore a bead store. These kind of social events are really the way to get to know chapter members and lots of fun too! Our destination was Bodacious Beads in Des Plaines, IL I've been there many a time; it was a frequent destination when I was a member of the Bead Society of Greater Chicago.
My cohorts were newbies and I was in charge of keeping their spending under control. As fate would have it, I came with a small list of things I reeeeally needed, so I got distracted from my duties. They surpassed the $100.00 mark, but hey, that got the 10% discount!! It is very easy to get distracted in a store of this kind; so much to see. By the looks of my friends' faces, they weren't all that disappointed in my lack of fiscal leadership!
Beady Buddy is also a Chicago hot dog officionado and lucky for us we were very near the Pup Palace! We stood in line for 10 minutes to get some really tasty dawgs and enjoyed an outdoor seat in the sunshine to eat and chat and compare notes on our exciting purchases.
Personally, I had strung up three bead projects last night and I came home with at least 3 more. I will be on a bead jag for a while and that's okay. I love crocheting with beads!
I can feel a wave of FOs (finished objects) coming on. I haven't finished any projects in a while and last night I finished a pair of cutie booties for Grand-nephew, Isaac.
This might just be the week when several come together, get finished and get posted on Ravelry!! Stay tuned!!
